Determine your Oxygen Levels with Oximetry Testing

Sleep apnea is a serious sleeping disorder that often goes undiagnosed for most people since a blood test and doctor’s visit cannot detect them. The disorder can have serious side effects since it causes people to stop breathing for a few seconds in their sleep. This can happen over one hundred times in the night and can be disturbing to bed partners who witness it firsthand.

What Are Symptoms of Sleep Apnea?

Using sleep apnea study devices can help to determine if a person suffers from the disorder and will enable them to move forward to treat it. Determining if you’re one of these people who suffer from sleep apnea starts with identifying the symptoms and moving forward from there. The most common symptoms of sleep apnea include the following:

  • Dry Mouth
  • Morning Headaches
  • Sore Throat
  • Learning/Memory Issues
  • Irritability
  • Excessive Daytime Sleepiness
  • Depression
  • Mood Swings
  • Personality Changes
  • Frequent Nocturnal Urination
  • Concentration Issues
  • Learning/Memory Issues

If any of these indicators sounds familiar, it’s a sign that you may suffer from this sleeping disorder. Sleep apnea has long-term health risks and can affect your day-to-day activities significantly. When a person stops breathing your brain will enter a “panic” mode since you’ve stopping breathing. When this happens the person is pulled out of deep sleep and resumes breathing, which affects the quality of their rest. Throughout the day the individual may feel significantly tired even after they’ve had a full night’s “rest” without even realizing their symptoms are caused by getting too little sleep.

What is an Oximetry Test and How Does it Help?

There are sleep apnea study devices designed to help people to determine if they suffer from this sleeping disorder. Oximetry testing, on the other hand, is different since it’s used to test a person’s oxygen range and oxygen saturation will usually fluctuate in people.
The first step is to use these test correctly is to find out the normal oxygen range an individual has by testing their oxygen saturation four times a day for five days in a row. Each measurement should be recorded and this will help to determine the average oxygen saturation in a person’s blood throughout the day.

Oximetry testing can also help to determine if someone suffers from sleep apnea if the oxygen saturation in their blood is low. Low oxygen saturation may also be caused by hypoxemia which is when there is insufficient oxygen in the blood. This is caused by the volume or rate of air that is entering the lungs but can also be caused by any influences that interfere with the transfer of air from the lungs to the blood.

Are Sleep Apnea Tests Invasive?

Sleep apnea health issues are a serious matter and often people think they may have to undergo an invasive test to determine if they suffer from the disorder or not. Originally, finding out if a patient suffered from sleep apnea meant having to visit a sleep testing lab and spending the night where they could be monitored by professionals. A patient is covered with sensors and monitored throughout the night, but this procedure is inconvenient for the patient. Patients may also be unable to go to sleep since they’re in an unfamiliar environment and will most likely be unable to replicate their normal bedtime routine.

The sleep apnea study equipment we have is accurate, non-invasive, and is ideal for people who wish to find out if they suffer from the disorder. We have several devices available to match anyone’s bedtime routine so they can get accurate results on whether they suffer from the disorder or not. This benefits the patient since they don’t have to take time out of their schedule to head over to a remote location. Our devices make it easier for patients to get accurate results they can share with their primary physician and find a way to treat their sleep apnea.
